In January-May, Ukrainian seaports reduced cargo turnover by 18.6%

The cargo turnover of Ukrainian seaports in January-May 2021 amounted to 55.4 million tons, which is 18.6% lower than the same period last year. The press service of the SE The Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA) reports.

Cargo handling in exports fell by 18.6% to 42.6 million tons, in imports — by 13.4% to 8.8 million tons, and in transit — by 25% to 3.4 million tons. Transshipment of cabotage cargo decreased by 42.5% to 484.8 thousand tons.

Most of all, the ports handled ore and grain cargo – 15.6 million tons (-14.1%) and 14.6 million tons (-33.1%), respectively. Oil processed 657.7 thousand tons (+ 47.7%). Container turnover decreased by 6.4% to 415,532 TEU.
