In 2021, the volume of cargo transportation by rail reached 314.3 million tons

According to the data of the State Statistics Service of Ukraine, in 2021, the volume of cargo transportation by rail in 2021 increased by 2.9% compared to the previous year — up to 314.3 million tons.

An increase in the transportation of the following goods was recorded: building materials — by 8.7% (up to 65.7 million tons); coal — by 3.3%, up to 50.2 million tons); ferrous metals — by 5.9% (up to 21.7 million tons); oil and petroleum products — by 7.6% (up to 12.4 million tons); chemical and mineral fertilizers — by 22.9% (up to 10.7 million tons); cement — by 12.3% (up to 6.4 million tons); coke — by 9% (up to 5 million tons); ferrous scrap — by 10.4% (up to 2.2 million tons); woods — by 6.9% (up to 1.5 million tons).

But at the same time, it is noted that there was a reduction in railway transportation of iron and manganese ore — by 2.7% (up to 77.6 million tons) and grain and milling products – by 4.3% (up to 33.6 million tons).
