The operation of Ukrainian ports in the Black Sea can provide Ukraine with up to 8% of additional GDP
Ukraine’s GDP may grow by 8% in 2024 due to the operation of the seaports of Chornomorsk, Odesa and Pivdennyi. This was announced by the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Oleksandr Kubrakov.
“We understand that the effect of re-opening these ports may add an additional 8% of GDP next year. Our metallurgical and agricultural industries aren’t working at full capacity, if we compared them with the figures that were before the large-scale wars”, Kubrakov noticed.
According to him, the temporary humanitarian corridor in the Black Sea, the security of which is provided by the Ukrainian Navy, has transported almost 9 million tons of cargo since the beginning of its operation in September, of which almost 70% is agricultural products.
