Today, April 17, at a meeting of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine it was decided to rename the seaport “Yuzhny” in the Yuzhny city in “Pivdenny”. According to the explanatory note, the decision was developed at the initiative of the Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine.

According to the Minister of Infrastructure of Ukraine Volodymyr Omelyan, this decision was made “so that no one should share the issues of language, history and faith, put an end to the de-communization and de-Russification of the Ukrainian sea ports.”

Recall that “Pivdenny” is the largest seaport of Ukraine, which in the first quarter of 2019 became the leader in terms of cargo handling. From January to March of the current year, 11.598 million tons of cargo were handled in the port (an increase of 18.7%).
