As part of the visit to the international transport and logistics forum in Minsk, representatives of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA)
held a number of meetings and negotiations with leading companies of Belarus. The head of the USPA, Raivis Veckagans, presented to the Deputy Prime Minister and the Minister of Transport and Communications of the Republic of Belarus, as well as other forum participants, prospects for cooperation with Ukrainian seaports, as well as opportunities for developing inland waterways of Ukraine and Belarus using the E40 waterway from Black Sea.
According to Veckaghans, after we managed to convey to the Belarusian partners the potential benefits of cooperation with Ukrainian ports, they became interested in having a profitable alternative to the Baltic ports for exporting their goods. As a result, the routes through Ukraine were assessed as promising, and the capacities of Ukrainian ports now allow accepting and transshipping Belarusian products in large volumes.
In the near future, it is planned to hold a meeting at the interstate level to discuss interaction in the field of joint development of the transport infrastructure and increasing freight turnover between Ukraine and the Republic of Belarus.
