Global Ocean Link introduces piggyback transportation in international traffic

We’re pleased to announce that our company Global Ocean Link in partnership with Ukrainian Railways has started organizing a new intermodal service – TOFC (piggyback) transportation in international traffic.

The first trucks were delivered in test mode on the route Kaunas (Lithuania) – Kyiv (Ukraine) with unloading in Obukhiv. Soon, a regular train of 36 cars will be launched on a permanent basis on the routes Gdansk (Poland) – Kyiv (Ukraine) and Kaunas (Lithuania) – Kyiv (Ukraine). We’re also already working on the organization of contrailer transportation in export.

Given the current situation on the Polish-Ukrainian border, where as of Monday, November 20, the queue of Ukrainian trucks has grown to 2,900 cars, and the capacity was few trucks per hour, this type of transportation, which is the transportation of trucks, trailers, and semi-trailers, is another alternative that will help save time and money to both the shipper and the consignee.
