Hapag-Lloyd increases annual profit and ZIM transports a record volume

The world’s largest container carriers are beginning to publish the key operational and financial indicators for 2018.

Thus, according to the results of the previous year, the German company Hapag-Lloyd transported 11.9 million TEU, which is 21.1% more than in 2017. The average freight rate during the year was lower than a year earlier – by 1.5% and amounted to $ 1,044 per TEU. At the same time, revenue increased by 15.5% to 11.5 billion euros, and operating profit – by 7.8% to 443 million euros. Net profit increased by 39.4% to EUR 46 million.

The ZIM company also published its key operating and financial indicators. According to its report, the volume of traffic in 2018 amounted to 2914 thousand TEU, which is a record in the history of the line. In comparison with 2017, freight traffic increased by 10.8%. The volume of revenue in 2018 was the highest in the last 4 years – $ 3.25 billion, 4.1% higher than a year earlier.
