In 2018, Ukrainian seaports handled over 135 million tons of cargo

According to the data of SE “Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority” (USPA), in 2018 Ukrainian sea ports processed 135,171 million tons of cargo, which is 2.6 million tons more than in 2017. The increase in freight traffic was observed in such main areas as: agricultural products, ore, metal products and container transportation. In total, 11 654 vessels were handled in the ports, which is 3% less than in 2017.

The first place in terms of turnover volumes was taken by agricultural goods (grain, corn, peas and other agricultural products) — 52 million tons; ore is on the second place (over 28 million tons); on the third place — metal products (more than 18 million tons); on the fourth position — container cargo, turnover of which amounted to more than 846,000 TEU, which is 18% more than in 2017.

Export cargo handling grew by 0.5% — to 99.02 million tons, imported cargo — by 16.5% (to 23.78 million tons), in internal traffic — by 16.4% (to 2.13 million tons). Handling of transit cargo decreased by 13.4% (to 10.22 million tons).
