In 2018, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 334 963 large-capacity containers

The project of regular container train running on the route “Chornomorska” (TIS) – Kyiv-Liski – “Chornomorska” (TIS) was successful for “Ukrzaliznytsia” (“UZ”) and popular among cargo owners. According to the head of “UZ” Evgeny Kravtsov, January 31 marks the anniversary of the introduction of this train, and during this time they have already transported 2.5 thousand containers. In general, in 2018, Ukrzaliznytsia transported large-capacity containers by 13% more than in 2017.

Over the past year, as part of container trains, which are already 17 on a regular basis, including 7 transit trains, 95 700 TEU were transported, which is 29% of the total volume of transported containers. In total, in 2018, Ukrzaliznytsia transported 334 963 TEU, which is 13% more than in 2017 (295 479 TEU). The increase occurred in all types of messages: transit – by 24%, export – by 17%, domestic – by 11% and import – by 8%.

“Regular container trains it’s a new service on the Ukrainian market of transport services, the advantages of which is to minimize the time of delivery of goods to destinations, the safety of goods transported and competitive compared to alternative modes of transport cost of transportation. The container transportation market in Ukraine has enormous opportunities, and our primary task is to create new services for our customers and partners to realize these opportunities,” the Chairman of the Board of JSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” said.
