In January, Ukrainian seaports reduced container turnover by 15.7%

According to data of Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority (USPA), In January of this year, Ukrainian seaports reduced container turnover by 15.7% compared to the same period in 2020 — to 75,672 TEU. At the same time, import container traffic fell by 14.7% to 36,659 TEU, export — by 15.9% to 36,311 TEU, and transit — by 28.3% to 2,702 TEU.

The container turnover of the Odessa Seaport decreased by 21.2% — to 45,388 TEU, including: import — 17.3%, to 22,707 TEU; export — 25.7%, to 20,865 TEU; transit — by 35.1%, to 1,816 TEU.

The Port of Pivdennyi reduced container turnover by 7.4% to 17,017 TEU, including: import — 13.1%, to 7,886 TEU; export — by 1%, to 8,245 TEU; transit — by 7.7%, to 886 TEU.

It is noteworthy that the Port of Chernomorsk, on the contrary, increased container turnover by 1.9% – to 13,267 TEU, including: exports increased by 5.9% – to 7,201 TEU; and imports decreased by 2.4% – to 6,066 TEU.

In general, container handling in weight terms decreased by 25.4% – to 832 thousand tons, and container transshipment in quantitative terms decreased by 11.2% – to 44,516 units.
