Since the beginning of 2021, the Port of Odesa has processed more than 165,000 TEU

According to the results of 3 months of 2021, the operators of container terminals in the port of Odesa (SC “CTO” and LLC “Brooklyn-Kyiv Port”) processed 165,918 TEU, which is 2,703 TEU, or 2% more than in the same period last year. In general, in the first quarter of 2021, almost 70% of the total volume of container cargo was handled at the berths of the Odessa port. This is reported by the press service of the Odessa Seaport.

In the last month of the first quarter of this year, the port handled 61,101 TEU, which is 13% higher than in March 2020. Thus, the Port of Odesa eliminated a serious backlog that arose in January for objective reasons.

“At the beginning of the year, due to bad weather conditions, we did not wait for the approach of several large-capacity container ships. As a result, January gave a “minus” of 12%. This gap was overcome in February-March. The equalization of the situation with the transshipment of container cargo after a rather serious force majeure once again showed a consistently high level of service and stress resistance of the management of the port’s partner companies – port operators, freight forwarders, representatives of global liner carriers”, the Head of the Odesa branch of the SE «Ukrainian Sea Ports Authority» Maksym Lapay said.
