The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine supported the draft law “On multimodal transport”

At its meeting, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine supported the draft law “On multimodal transport”. This was reported by the Ministry of infrastructure of Ukraine.

“Ukraine must realize its transit potential and use all the possibilities provided by multimodal transportation and modern digital technologies for this. The draft law “On Multimodal Transportation” developed by us will not only help to protect the environment due to the reorientation of a significant part of transportation from roads to the river and other ecological types of delivery, but will also significantly simplify all procedures. Indeed, regardless of the change in the modes of transport or complex logistics, it will be possible to carry out the transportation of goods with just one shipping document – a multimodal transport agreement. It will also increase the volume of traffic within the country in the future and improve the service”, Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii said.

It is also noted that the new draft law also provides that when providing a multimodal cargo transportation service, the responsibility of the multimodal transportation operator for the cargo to the customer of the service covers the period from the moment of acceptance of the cargo to the moment of its delivery. In other words, in order to receive compensation for lost or damaged cargo, the service customer does not need to determine at what stage of transportation the cargo was damaged or lost, or which of the carriers did not fulfill their obligations for its timely delivery.
