The first ship of the new service Maersk called to the Yuzhny Sea Port

The container ship Maersk Klaipeda (flag – Hong Kong) with a length of 300 metres and a capacity of 6,802 TEU moored to the berth N22 of the TIS‐container terminal. It is reported that this vessel is the largest container ship ever to call at the port. Maersk Klaipeda left the port of Pipavav (India) a month ago and proceeded through the largest ports of India, Oman, the UAE, Turkey and Egypt.
According to Roman Koloyanov, the general director of Maersk Line Ukraine, the company’s decision to transfer the service from the port of Odessa to the port of Yuzhny has a commercial rationale, where the key factor was the development of the railway network of the TIS terminal.
Maersk annually provides Ukraine with a flow of containers at the level of 200,000 TEU, and so far it is less than 1% of the total volume of transportation of the company around the world, however, the operator expects traffic growth.
