The volume of container shipments returned to the level of 2012

In 2017, sea container shipping in Ukraine showed a steady growth and by the end of the year amounted to 723 781 TEU. This indicates that cargo shipments that declined for two years (2014-2015) returned almost to the level of 2012 (at that time they amounted to 735 606 TEU). However, this is much less than the record figure for 2008, when sea container shipments reached 1.254 million TEU. Regarding the structure of container flows passing through Ukrainian ports, it should be noted that the balance between imports and exports continues to exist. As a percentage, this is expressed as follows: imports – 50.3%, exports – 49.7%. Let’s remind, that at the moment cargoes in Ukrainian ports are handled at five container terminals: “Brooklyn-Kiev Port” and SC “CTO” – in Odessa Port, TIS CT – in Yuzhny Port and at the Terminal of the Ilyichevsk Sea Fishing Port.
