“Ukrzaliznytsia” increased container traffic by 39%

For the period from January to October 2018, PJSC “Ukrzaliznytsia” compared to the same period last year increased the volume of container traffic in the composition of container trains by 39%. Thus, since the beginning of the year, 98272 TEU were transported as part of container trains. For the same period of 2017, 70672 TEU were transported.

In particular, for 10 months, 2018 container traffic of the “Viking” combined transport train increased by 32% to 8796 TEU, ZUBR trains by 46% (1862 TEU), Nizhniodniprovsk-Pristan-Chernomorska (TIS) by 36% ( 7309 TEU), “NIKA” – by 2% (18654 TEU), China – Slovakia – Hungary (through Mongolia) transported 4554 TEU (an increase of 2.8 times), Land Bridge (China – Slovakia – Hungary) – 506 TEU, Kiev-Liski – Chornomorska – 7787 TEU.

It is also noted that the improvement was due to the introduction of new container routes Kyiv-Liski – Chornomorska (TIS) – 7787 TEU transported from January), Kyiv-Liski – Odessa-port (since October 173 TEU transported), Rozhnyativ – Odessa-Port / Chornomorska (TIS) – 7309 TEU transported since May), China – Slovakia through Kazakhstan (6824 TEU transported since February), Kharkiv-Liski – Chornomorska (TIS) (1087 TEU transported since July), Ternopil – Chornomorska (TIS) (since August transported 1692 TEU), Odessa-port – Kharkiv-Liski (523 TEU transported since August).

In addition to container trains, containers were transported by route groups. From January to October, cargo owners ordered 22109 containers in twenty-foot equivalent, which is 9% more than in the corresponding period of 2017.
