Navigation on the Dnipro river opened two weeks earlier
From today on the Dnipro river gateways navigation opens. This is stated in the message of the Association “Rivers of Ukraine”. In particular, today, March 6, it will start at Zaporizhzhya and Kakhovka gateways, March 12 – at Dniprodzierzhynsk, March 19 – Kremenchug, March 26 – at Kanevsky, and April 2 – Kyiv.
This year navigation starts two weeks earlier than last year – last year it started on March 20.
“The opening of navigation in such terms will attract large volumes of cargo to the water. Industry participants estimate every day navigation about 20 thousand tons in the river” – the Executive Director of the Association” Rivers of Ukraine ” Dmytro Kozachenko said.
Recall that in 2018 the volume of cargo transportation on the Dnieper river increased by 22.4% compared to the previous year – to 9.91 million tons. At the same time, the transportation of metal products along the Dnipro river last year increased by 6.7% to 1.29 million tons.
